A*STAR Institute for Human Development and Potential (A*STAR IHDP)Dennis Wang is a Senior Principal Investigator at A*STAR Institute for Human Development and Potential (A*STAR IHDP), formerly Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences (SICS), and Bioinformatics Institute (BII), as well as the Academy of Medical Sciences Professor (Chair in Data Science) at Imperial College London. His teams focus on using machine learning models to develop better diagnostics and treatment strategies for complex diseases, including cardiometabolic disorders, neurodegeneration, cancer and COVID-19. They try to embed equality, diversity and inclusion in the way data is collected and used to train AI. Having worked in both academia and industry, he enjoys mentoring early-career scientists wanting to make an impact on human health using data-driven techniques. He earned his BS in Computer Science and Microbiology from the University of British Columbia, Canada, and his MPhil in Computational Biology and PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Cambridge, UK.
