Felix Rui Zhu is a Senior Scientist at the A*STAR Institute of High Performance Computing (A*STAR IHPC). Previously, he was a research assistant professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and a post doctorate researcher at the MIT Senseable City Lab, SMART. Zhu’s research focuses on GIScience, urban informatics and solar cities, with more than 100 SCI papers published in journals such as Nature Climate Change, Nature Communications, The Innovation, Science Bulletin, and Applied Energy.

Zhu is an Associate Editor of Springer Nature Computer Science, and Editor of Big Earth Data and Advances in Applied Energy. Zhu has received multiple awards including the Geospatial World 50 Rising Stars, ISDE Young Scientist Award, and Smart City Technology Innovation Award, and is in the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List. In addition, Zhu is also the principal or co-investigator for several research grants and has supervised more than 30 students/interns, and has served as the Educational Committee Chair (2026-2030) and Board Member of the International Association of Chinese Professionals in Geographic Information Sciences (CPGIS) for 2023–2024.
