Giulia Adriani is a Principal Scientist at the A*STAR Skin Research Labs (A*STAR SRL), with adjunct appointments at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU). She obtained her PhD in Engineering of Machines, within the Biomedical and Biomechanical Engineering programme through the Polytechnic of Milan, Bari and Turin, and conducted research training at The Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Houston, USA. She subsequently held research positions at NUS and the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) before joining A*STAR. Adriani leads interdisciplinary research focused on understanding complex disease mechanisms and developing advanced human-relevant microphysiological systems. Her work includes vascularised immune-competent organotypic tumour models, neurovascular models and blood-brain barrier platforms, spanning bioengineering, oncology, immunology and neuroscience. Through collaborations with academic, clinical and industry partners, she seeks to develop more predictive preclinical models that accelerate therapeutic discovery and translation.
