Maxine Lam is a Senior Scientist at A*STAR’s Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), studying how brain tumours and their interactions with the blood-brain barrier (BBB) affect tumour biology and therapy resistance. She was awarded the Career Development Fund (2020) to develop a microfluidic model for glioblastoma (GBM) and the BBB, and the Pitchfest Grant (2023) to adapt the model for patient-derived GBM cells. She carried out her PhD at the MRC LMCB in London as a Wellcome Trust and A*STAR NSS scholar, where she began to use a wide toolkit spanning computational biology to genetics to unravel some of the complex problems in cancer biology.
