Nanxi Li is a Senior Scientist at the A*STAR Institute of Microelectronics (A*STAR IME), and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He received his undergraduate training in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with first class honours from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). After graduation, he joined the A*STAR Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (A*STAR SIMTech) as a Research Engineer, where he gained hands-on experience in applied R&D and industry-oriented technology development. He subsequently pursued graduate studies at Harvard University, obtaining his MS and PhD degrees in Applied Physics, and also served as a visiting student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Li’s research focuses on integrated photonics and micro/nano-fabricated devices, including silicon photonics, MEMS-based sensors, metasurfaces and fibre optics. His work bridges fundamental device physics and system-level implementation, with key emphasis on scalable fabrication, heterogeneous integration, and the development of advanced photonic sensing and computing platforms.
