Wanjin Hong is a Principal Investigator at the A*STAR Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (A*STAR IMCB), where he also led successfully as Executive Director from 2011 to 2023. He earned his PhD degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, US. Throughout his career, he has utilised his deep technical and conceptual expertise to drive fundamental discoveries in molecular and cellular biology.

Hong is internationally recognised for his foundational contributions to the fields of membrane trafficking, protein sorting and cancer biology. A highly cited researcher, he has published hundreds of peer-reviewed papers in top-tier scientific journals. His main interests lie in deciphering the core cellular mechanisms that dictate cell behaviour and leveraging these biological insights to identify novel therapeutic targets for human diseases.
