Sherry Aw obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, US, and completed her doctoral studies at Harvard Medical School, US. After postdoctoral training at the A*STAR Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (A*STAR IMCB), working on roles for microRNAs in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases and developing novel RNA technologies, she then started her lab at A*STAR IMCB. Aw is a co-inventor on four patents and was awarded the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science International Fellowship (Asia-Pacific) in 2019.
